It can be daunting for children to spend time away from home, particularly for the first time.
To help children feel at ease the design focuses on the concept of ‘home’. A playful & memorable series of ‘home’ shapes - a theme that carries right through to the interiors.

Located in the growing suburb of Officer, this highly popular early learning centre responds directly to its neighbourhood context, while internally, the design & planning evolves around the learning stages of a child’s development, with the internal spaces arrangement enabling children to ‘progress’ through the building.

The layout of the internal playrooms ensures each room has a strong connection with the outdoor areas for indoor/outdoor activities. The large playground provides challenging play options that cater to the varying ages of children who’ll be using it.

Brickwork acts as way finding element, enabling children to move through the building, providing important tactile moments for children to connect with the various textural materials in their learning environment.
